IEEE 1000-4-5: 1995 and IEEE C62.41-1991 are the recognized standards for
top quality surge protectors. B&B Electronics’ heavy duty units meet these
specifications with three stage protection for maximum safety: a gas discharge
tube feeds to a series resistor and a TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) for
each supported line.
Tough metal panel mount cases protect models 232HESP, 422HESP and
485HESP. HESP4DR provides the same surge protection in a molded DIN
Rail mount case. All have #10 ground screws which must be connected to a
solid ground.
Surge Protectors are used to protect equipment from large voltage
spikes such as lightning or other transients. This surge protector
offeres three stages of protection starting with a gas discharge tube
followed by a series of resistors and finally a TVS for each supported
line. Housed in a metal box with two metal mounting brackets and two
terminal posts makes an earth ground connection easy.
The high energy surge protector units have been tested to two
specifications at 6kV, IEC 1000-4-5: 1995 "Surge Immunity Test" and IEEE
C62.41-1991 "IEEE Recommended Practice on Surge Voltages in Low-Voltage
AC Power Circuits."
The Model 422HESP will protect five RS-422 or RS-485 signal lines. TD(A), TD(B), RD(A), RD(B), Signal GND
